This class is primarily for parents and caregivers of youth who were adopted or are living with kinship family members, including youth in out-of-home placement, in order to provide support for these families through resources and tools. Foster parents and professionals are also welcome.

Adam Robe, MSW, a former foster child and adoptee, is the CEO for Foster Care Alumni of America. He has more than a decade in the social work field and has helped hundreds of foster children and their families adjust to tough life changes. Adam is the author of the Robbie the Rabbit™ books a series of children’s stories designed specifically for children in foster care. He is also a contributing author to the book, Flux: Life After Foster Care.

In this workshop, participants will learn:

  • Youth perspectives regarding their transition into adulthood

  • About the challenges of youth transitioning out of their adoptive home

  • How to advocate for your youth’s needs

  • How to create lifelong connections with your youth

 

Snacks and beverages will be provided. Due to the sensitive nature of the material being discussed, we ask that you make other arrangements for child care. Funding is available for respite care; please contact Erik Penn at epenn@adoptex.org for details.
