Currently, there are more than 510,000 children in the U.S. foster care system, and 123,000 of them are available for adoption. Many of these children can wait five years or more to be connected with a family.
Five years is a lifetime to a child.
Wendy’s Wonderful Kids was created to focus on and move thousands of children out of foster care and into adoptive families. The Adoption Exchange is a recipient of Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption grant for Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.
Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiters use a child-focused recruitment strategy that involves meeting with children regularly, case record review, assessment, adoption preparation, network building and recruitment plans for finding families for children who are waiting in foster care to be adopted.
