Have a great meal and help the kids!

Wendy’s and The Adoption Exchange are teaming up to raise funds in celebration of “A Day for Wednesday’s Child,” on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 by dedicating a percent of sales to help Colorado children in Foster Care who are waiting to be adopted.

“It’s a great way to make positive difference in our community while enjoying great food,” said local Wendy’s Franchisee David See. “Our goal is to help even more children find their forever family.”

Visit a participating Wendy’s restaurant in Denver Metro, Northern Colorado or Mountains (I-70 corridor) area on April 8 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wendy’s will donate 10 percent of all sales to “A Day for Wednesday's Child” benefiting The Adoption Exchange.

UPS Employee Spotlight

"It’s hard to remember my first event but I think it was the White Fence Farm party. One of my first memories was attending an actual Wednesday’s Child taping. Any chance I got I went on a taping of them. I watched children meet the Nuggets and Broncos. I even bought a basketball for the child waiting to meet the Denver Nuggets and had the team sign it for him. It was awesome!

I remember my first day at the office; they made me watch a video of children waiting for adoption to get an understanding of what the organization was all about. I cried the whole time. Ever since then I knew I needed to be a part of this wonderful organization and 17 years later I still am. I have been witness to all the magnificent things the organization does and how committed they are to helping every waiting child get placed with a forever family and as long as I can I will be there to help along the way."

In the ninth grade, she is deemed the "class clown", has a great sense of humor and can be silly and extroverted. Her favorite subject is writing.

Meet Daniella (ID #153646)

Daniella would love to bring light to your life! This endearing teen truly desires a forever family to call her own. She enjoys reading and playing on her computer, and is interested in anime.

With an affinity for animals, Daniella is considering becoming an exotic pet veterinarian when she grows up. She also enjoys working with the elderly, and currently works part-time after school with this population. A goal oriented tenth grader, Daniella does well in school and enjoys participating in extracurricular activities. This level headed girl makes decisions with a forward thinking attitude.

The caseworker prefers a two-parent or single-female home; however, all family types will be considered. Daniella reports that she would love a family that she can fit into, as well as have support through adulthood. She prefers to be the only teen in the home, and enjoys the company of younger children. Daniella hopes to stay in Colorado to continue a relationship with her grandmother.

Edward (138527)

Meet Edward (ID #138527)

Edward, or "Eddie" as he likes to be called, is an active, outdoorsy fellow who loves animals; he especially enjoys the opportunity to interact with them and wishes he could find a kind family who lives on a farm, or close to wildlife.

Hitting the jackpot would be meeting a family who likes to go fishing as much as he does. Though quite the animal lover, he is also a 'people' person and connects well with others, especially adults. This thoughtful eighth grader is artistically inclined yet versatile: he also enjoys dinosaurs and reading non-fiction.

All family types will be considered. Eddie would like to maintain contact with a previous placement provider.

Izzy (120500)

Meet Izzy (ID #120500)

Izzy is a great girl who has been described as sweet-natured with a kind heart and an exploring personality. Currently interested in gymnastics and twirling, Izzy also enjoys singing, dancing and painting. The color pink and getting manicures make this fashionable pre-teen smile, as does listening to Justin Bieber! Izzy is an affectionate child who responds well to trusted adults.

In the sixth grade, she can bond with both adults and other children. Izzy needs support in school, does well in a one-on-one setting and prefers to do homework with the teacher rather than with peers. It is unknown at this time whether she will need assistance as an adult, but a fantastic life is a possibility for her!

The caseworker prefers a two-parent family where she can be the only child; however all family types will be accepted. Izzy is in need of a loving and patient home that can provide the support needed to thrive; we are seeking open parents who are willing to accept Izzy and provide the guidance and nurturing needed from a family. Izzy hopes to remain in contact with previous foster parents and mentor.

Meet Metiki (ID #139438)

Metiki is a kind and friendly teen with a wonderful smile and a bright personality! In the tenth grade, soccer tops the list of favorite activities for this girl, but she is also a fan of other sports and music. From Ethiopia, she would like to stay connected to her culture as much as possible.

Metiki's caseworker would prefer a two-parent household where she can be the only child; however, all family types will be considered. She hopes to remain in contact with her adoptive sister in the future. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services.

This is a LEGAL RISK ADOPTIVE PLACEMENT. In a legal risk placement, it is expected that the family will eventually adopt the child, even though the birth parents' rights have not been fully terminated at the time of placement.
