Many children are in the custody of the Nevada foster care system and are eligible and waiting for a permanent home.
The children who wait are the survivors of abuse and neglect. They are school-aged children, brothers and sisters, children of color and those with disabilities. These children live in a series of foster and group homes. There they wait. They hope for the stability and love of an adoptive family.
In Nevada, child welfare services (including the adoption of children in foster care) are provided by three separate entities depending on the location of residence:
Weekly Waiting Child
|Each week you will receive an email featuring children recently listed or relisted in our Children's Gallery.
Your information will not be distributed to other organizations or businesses.
The Adoption Exchange provides a number of effective and innovative programs to connect waiting children with adoptive families. View our Children's Gallery
Adoption Resource Coordinator
||A full-time Adoption Resource Coordinator serves as an advocate & liaison for adoptive families, helping them to identify, locate and access information and resources. The Coordinator maintains information on Nevada resource agencies and organizations, service providers and informational topics of relevance. In addition, the Coordinator provides support and advocates for the development, expansion and/or improvement of services for pre- and post-adoptive families.
For more information on the services above contact the Nevada Office.
Networking parties for families interested in adopting, children waiting in foster care and their caseworkers, and prospective adoptive families are sponsored several times a year. The parties offer a unique opportunity for families, children and caseworkers to connect while in a safe, relaxed, fun atmosphere. Contact Adoption Parties
for more information or questions.
Adult members of currently licensed foster/adoptive families and potential foster/adoptive families (who have submitted foster care/adoption applications and complete background checks) are eligible to attend this event. Featured children's profiles will be available and attendees will have the opportunity to meet personally with The Adoption Exchange staff and the recruiters, caseworkers and other members of the Clark County Department of Family Services to learn about specific waiting children. Contact Profile Parties
