About this Class
Parenting is challenging, particularly when you are parenting a child from a hard place. Children from hard places include children who were born prematurely, have been abused and neglected, have been adopted internationally, and have special needs. This training will provide an in-depth look at Connection and attachment and how to help these children (and your family) heal.
Please note: Participants must complete the introductory course prior to attending this event.
Emerge Family Connections offers training for families and professionals about effectively parenting and caring for children from hard places. Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a parenting and intervention model developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the TCU Institute of Child Development. TBRI® is based on a solid foundation of neuropsychological theory and research, tempered by humanitarian principles. It is a family-based intervention that is designed for children who have experienced relationship-based traumas such as institutionalization, multiple foster placements, maltreatment, and/or neglect.
Emerge offers TBRI® training as four modules. While it is best to attend the Introduction module before pursuing additional training, each module can offer valuable knowledge for parents and professionals. Each training module may be available as a full-day training, 4.5-hour training, or as a three-part series of 2-hour sessions.
Both Jill Crewes, MSW and Amanda Purvis, BSW, Co-Founders, have studied under Dr.Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross and their team at the TCU Institute of Child Development. The training will utilize the TBRI® curriculum developed by the Institute. Jill and Amanda have received advanced training regarding this curriculum and have been qualified as TBRI Educators to present the content.
